WHAT IS SOUCHARD POSTULAR GYMNASTICS?
There Souchard postural gymnastics, like the Mézières one, is a postural approach rehabilitation technique that takes its name from the approach and method performed during the physiotherapy session: the Souchard method or Global Postural Re-education, developed by Philippe E. Souchard, one of the collaborators of the physiotherapist Mézières
WHAT IS IT FOR?
It is generally used in rehabilitation and physiotherapy for the treatment of: Scoliosis; Low Back Pain; Neck Pain; Length Differences; Joint Dysfunctions; Postural Problems.
HOW IT WORKS
The Souchard method is a physiotherapy approach based on individual and comprehensive manual treatment. It works primarily on the body's muscle groups and begins with a distinction between the behavior and roles of muscles in static muscles And muscles of dynamicsThe longer the first (static) muscles remain contracted, the more they become retracted and resistant to stretching, while the second (dynamic) muscles can be contracted freely thanks also to a pre-stretching phase.
The goal is to globally restore the body's balance, starting with the restoration – in a balanced situation – of neuromuscular coordination.
THE EFFECTS
As with the Mézières method, the aim of the Souchard method is to restore normal symmetry to body parts through postural re-education and exercises that promote the stretching of inelastic muscles.
Specifically, there are several effects generated by the use of this method, namely:
• Fight against a sedentary lifestyle;
• Counteract bad postural and motor habits;
• Restore the body's health following prolonged exertion and/or incorrect posture;
• Allows post-traumatic recovery
WHEN IS IT CONTRAINDICATED?
It is the specialist who evaluates, after the patient's medical history and a general overview of the body's health, whether or not to perform this approach.
