WHAT IS THERAPEUTIC LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE?
Lymphatic drainage is a physiotherapy rehabilitation technique based on the application of therapeutic massage to areas of the body characterized by reduced lymphatic circulation.
WHAT IS IT FOR?
As the term itself suggests, lymphatic drainage is a technique that promotes the drainage of lymphatic fluids from tissues. It can be used for both therapeutic and aesthetic purposes. In fact, it is referred to as therapeutic lymphatic drainage that of aesthetic lymphatic drainage.
The therapeutic one for the treatment of: Circulatory Problems; Mastectomy; Post-Operative Edema; Water Retention.
HOW IT WORKS
This technique uses manual mechanical action applied to areas of the lymphatic system to facilitate the drainage of stagnant body fluids. It requires extensive training on the part of the massager, namely a thorough understanding of the lymphatic system and the areas to be treated.
There are several techniques used to perform lymphatic drainage. These differ mainly in the type of movements performed.
THE EFFECTS
Lymphatic drainage offers a variety of benefits, both for therapeutic and aesthetic purposes. These include:
• Eliminate the stagnation of organic fluids, promoting the reabsorption of edema;
• Promote draining action;
• Regulate the autonomic nervous system
• Facilitate the relaxation of muscle fibers.
WHEN IS IT CONTRAINDICATED?
There are some contraindications: lymphatic drainage is strictly not recommended for patients suffering from acute inflammation, malignant tumors, and cardiac edema. It is not recommended for:
• People suffering from asthma
• People suffering from blood pressure alterations
